Super Simple Bag Bag

I didn't realize so much time had passed since I last posted here! When you get a new job and then a new baby, I guess designing patterns tends to take a back seat.

It's time to get back to it, though, so without further ado, here's a great beginner pattern for anyone whose house is overrun with plastic bags...

Super Simple Bag Bag
Hook: 5mm

Yarn: 1 skein of any worsted weight yarn will work - this pattern doesn't use a whole lot of yarn, so it's perfect to use up a leftover "mostly there" skein from previous projects, as long as the yarn has a bit of give to it.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
ss = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
YO = yarn over

Special Stitches:
Dc2tog = *YO and draw up a loop in the next dc. YO and draw through 2 loops on hook.* Repeat from * to * one more time. YO and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Main Body

To begin, ch 20 and join with ss in first ch to form ring.

Round 1: Ch 1. 30 sc in ring being careful not to twist. Join with ss in first sc.

Round 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc.* Repeat from * to * around to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Join with ss in first sc. (45 sc)

Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc throughout). 1 dc in same sc. *1 dc in each of next 14 sc, 2 dc in next sc.* Repeat from * to * twice. 1 dc in each of next 14 dc. Join with ss in top of first ch 3. (48 dc)

Rounds 4 & 5: Ch 3. 1 dc in each dc around. Join with ss in top of first ch 3.

Round 6: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1 space throughout). *Skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with ss in 3rd chain of beginning ch 4.

Rounds 7 & 8: Ss in first ch 1 space. Ch 4. *Skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with ss in 3rd chain of beginning ch 4.

Round 9: Ch 3. Dc in ch 1 space. *Dc in next dc, dc in ch 1 space.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with ss in top of beginning ch 3.

Rounds 10 & 11: Ch 3. 1 dc in each dc around. Join with ss in top of beginning ch 3.

Repeat rounds 6-11 until bag reaches your desired length, making sure that you end on a round 10.

To Finish:
Round 1: Ch 3. Dc2tog over next 2 dc. *1 dc in next dc, dc2tog over next 2 dc.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with ss in top of beginning ch 3. (32 dc)

Round 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in each dc around. Join with ss in top of beginning ch 3.

Round 3: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with ss in first sc. DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Handle: Ch 30. Count 16 sc around and ss in that sc (connecting other side of the handle). Ch 1 and sc back along the chain. Join with ss to first sc of round 3. Finish off.
